Did you know that the first recorded official discovery of gold in Victoria was at Warrandyte, alongside one in the Pyrenees, both declared on 16 July 1851? (Source: Warrandyte Historical Society). Since 1978, the Hanson family has been shining a light on the history and workings of an 1850s gold mine. Full of interesting nuggets about Warrandyte’s founding gold miners.
